BLANK HOUSE
BLANK HOUSE. 2020

This proposal rethinks an old, small rustic house of low ceilings and not aligned axes on a 500 sqm plot of land to adapt it to current life necessities. The approach is to substitute a part of the low concrete slab with a cycloid brick vault in the proposed living room area to improve natural lighting and the sense of spaciousness. The south patio's concrete floor was removed to transform it into a garden while large windows were opened on the dining room to take advantage of the winter sun. The inferior spaces are organized as a large dinning room, living room, studio, TV room, main bedroom and back portico. A second floor was added, it holds two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The front stairs remain, as well as the existing pine trees and native yucas.

The materials used are the local "cuacha" brick and white stucco, combined with the existing  terracotta tiles of rustic character and a more contemporary porcelain to balance rustic and urban.
