OS HOUSE
OS HOUSE

The OS House is located in a mountain range in General Cepeda, where the desert retreats and gives way to a forest. This country house for a retired couple consists of fluid social spaces where intricate transparencies blur the inside and outside that acknowledges the surrounding nature in different ways.
The heart of the project is the terrace which looks to the south towards impressive views of cliffs, valleys and peaks, its roof slanting upwards to frame the tall mountains in front. To the west a glass room allows the view to flow to a forested hill, while the views to the north are more measured and contemplates the forest in a closer way.
The house holds a large social area with an integrated kitchen-dinning room, a traditional living room and a fireplace glass room, besides two guest bedrooms, three bathrooms and the main bedroom with its own terrace.
The house experiments with different outdoor spaces, like the main terrace, a pergola extension and an esplanade with a firepit to look at the stars.
Passive sustainability is considered through thick north walls, double windows, and west and southern exposures preferred, because nonetheless it is the desert, the altitude makes it very cold during nights. Finally, using the local stone will better integrate the project to its surroundings.
