Country family house located in the arid Chihuahuan desert. The extreme weather of the desert with summers that easily reach 40 C° and cold winters with below freezing temperatures made the orientation of the house a vita decision to make.
The layout consists of a C volume that revolves around a patio. The C is closed by a long north-facing porch. This organization allows two bedrooms to face south, while the eating space is protected from the summer sun by a covered terrace.

The dynamics of a country house are quite different from an urban house. The CG house pours itself out in diverse ways.
The main outdoor space is the reed covered porch where guests are received and entertained in the shade, the mountain view enjoyed. The side views of the landscape are framed by perfect rectangle openings while the rest of the wall protects from the late afternoon sun. The back terrace faces a growing pecan orchard and adds to the kitchen and eating area, ideal for an early outdoor brunch in the mornings. Finally the enclosed yet open patio complements the porch and the indoor living area, it is also the place for the preparation of the traditional northern Mexican BBQs, for growing aromatic herbs and vegetables. Antique doors and old wooden beams of the client’s property were included in the design.
